Welcome! My name is David and I am an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the University of Southern Maine. I recently completed my PhD at the University of Notre Dame (2017).

My community-based teaching and scholarship focus on the intersections of social inequality and social movements, with a specific emphasis on American Indian rights and Indigenous activism.

My current book project examines the dominant cultural narratives and memory surrounding the American Indian Movement (AIM) from 1973-2015.

I am a Research Fellow with the Center for American Indian Research and Native Studies (CAIRNS) on the Pine Ridge Reservation.
